History

Our church began in 1842 as Union Church with eight charter members building our first church structure. They built a 12 x 12 foot log building. In 1857, the church congregation met and discussed a new name for the church, voting to call it Timber Ridge. The second building was built and opened for use in 1883. This building was located about 650 feet from the first structure. After the war ended the members of the church were eager to construct a new building. The old A- frame structure was torn down and the new one was built on the same site. The construction began in 1919 and was finished in 1920. The church was completed and dedicated in August of 1920. A revival started that night and continued for 19 days. Our records indicate that there were 55 new members baptized and joined the church as a result of the revival. We have had additions made to the original structure. The bathrooms, kitchen, adult classrooms and nursery were constructed during the 70’s and 90”s. Today we look to the future of Timber Ridge. On April 5, 2009 members voted to purchase 10 acres of land on which our new church has been built. God has greatly blessed us and continues to do so. It is our prayer that this new facility be used as a tool in doing God’s work reaching the lost in our community.
